LIFE IS 10% HOW WE MAKE IT AND 90% HOW WE REACT TO IT.
“THE MOST COMMON WAY WE GIVE UP OUR POWER IS TO BELIEVE WE DON’T HAVE ANY.”
As a possible second wave of this pandemic seems to be approaching it is clear that Covid19 will NOT bend to our will. We need to accommodate Covid 19 as it will not accommodate us! As we are learning; if we do not keep observing social distancing and be extremely vigilant with hand washing then we, and more importantly those we come into contact with will likely become victims. As always it is we that need to change; COVID19 is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
C19! Another of life challenges to be overcome. I say “another” because many of us have overcome serious challenges in our lives. When a serious challenge occurs it usually comes from “left field” – in other words totally unexpected. How we deal with the situation will be either helpful or unhelpful to us. How did you personally get through the serious challenges in your life? Are you able to apply these criteria to this recent challenge?
How do we navigate an unexpected event. If we can respond to a situation rather than react we will have control of our emotions. In the case of C19 it is my belief that panic buying is to give a feeling of control to the person stockpiling. Unfortunately we do not have control over events, only an illusion of control. It is how we handle crises that determine our quality of life, and for those that we are in contact with.
The present crisis is a death of our usual way of life and like a death of a loved one we will go through various emotions such as anger, frustration and despair until we find acceptance. Once we accept the situation for what it is only then we will we be able to move on with our lives. Yes, we will be changed, and we have the power to make it a positive change for the future. Below is part of an ancient Sanskrit poem that might help.
…For yesterday is but a Memory
And tomorrow is only a Vision
But today well lived
Makes every Yesterday a Memory of Happiness
And every Tomorrow a Vision of Hope
Look well, therefore to this Day.
